Getting you behind the wheel safely...

About Us

Angela Brown I have decades of experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L). This includes working in a variety of settings such as acute inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, home care, transitional care and acute hospital care. The variety of settings I have experienced enable me to work with individuals of all levels of independence and diagnoses.

I began my career in driving rehab in 1998. This was one of the best decisions I ever made. I pursued the training, became a Pennsylvania Certified Driving Instructor (CDI) and successfully passed the certification exam to become a Certified Driving Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS). Later, I became a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) and an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP).

I am passionate about providing individuals with the skills necessary to become independent. Historically, individuals had a shorter lifespan and individuals with physical disabilities were either institutionalized or cared for by family members. With medical advancements, individuals are living longer and surviving medical conditions such as strokes, traumatic brain injuries and amputations. Individuals with disabilities are becoming more independent and living on their own, going to school and obtaining employment. As a result, there is a growing demand for individuals to be able to drive. Individuals with disabilities such as autism have the potential to learn to drive when given the opportunity and the appropriate training.

Today, there are hundreds of specialty providers and services to assist individuals with specific needs. If you are diagnosed with cancer, you see an oncologist; if you have a stroke, you see a neurologist. These individuals dedicate their careers to specialize in what they are passionate about. Why see someone that is not certified or specialized in driver rehabilitation and training when it comes to your driving independence?

I have over years of continuing education specifically geared toward driver education, driver training and transportation equipment modifications for persons with disabilities. I am a member and credentialed with the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) which is a professional organization for individuals in this specialized field.

Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialists
Driver rehabilitation specialists are professionals with backgrounds in healthcare and/or driver education who have completed additional training and education in the field of driver rehabilitation. The most knowledgeable of the specialists are Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (CDRS).

The CDRS certificate is the accepted benchmark for quality in driver rehabilitation services. ADED provides practitioners with high quality training and is the only organization to offer the driver rehabilitation specialty certification designation. Candidates who have successfully passed the certification examination will earn credentials designating them as a CDRS and are required to maintain continuing education and update their knowledge in the profession to retain this important designation.
